Horsens, DK - Workation

Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions' Workation = Work + Vacation program offers employees flexible working solutions, allowing them to combine work with leisure. Employees can spend up to 20 workdays abroad blending travel with productivity. It's fantastic that our company offers this program, enhancing work-life balance. After our family trip to LEGOLAND Denmark in 2023, I knew Denmark would be my top choice for a Workation in 2024. This time, we settled in Horsens as our "home" base, spending nearly a month there by combining work with vacation days.

Denmark

In July 2024, temperatures in Hungary soared to 37 degrees, while in Denmark, they stayed below 20. Was there strong wind and heavy rain? Absolutely. But can you still have fun with your family while working? Definitely! :) We explored different parts of the country by tracking down the trolls created by Thomas Dambo. These sculptures, crafted from recycled wood, are scattered across Denmark. It was a true adventure, especially for my kids, to discover these trolls.

The country boasts numerous high-quality nature playgrounds, making it an ideal destination for families with kids. These unique areas, surrounded by hills, forests, and stunning landscapes, are truly exceptional. Spending an extended period in the country allows you to go beyond being just a tourist - you start to become a part of the local society. It's a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and explore far more than you would on a typical vacation.

It's no wonder Denmark - the birthplace of LEGO and Andersen tales - is recognized as one of the happiest countries in the world. Danes embrace the concept of "Hygge," a feeling of well-being and warmth. You can sense this cozy atmosphere on the streets - quite literally. Strolling down the streets where you're invited to take intimate walks past colorful houses, charming coffee shops, and vintage boutiques. Working on the shores of Horsens Fjord, enjoying the crisp Nordic air, snacking on authentic Danish butter cookies straight from Jacobsens Bakery, and exploring the country with my family made the workation program truly special.
